ST. LOUIS – “The Gayborhood” radio show, which airs Monday-Friday on 1380 the X from 4-6 p.m., is returning to a Saturday only rotation.
Billed as city’s first LGBT drive time program on commercial radio, host Show Me Charlotte and her colorful cast have been entertaining and informing listeners since the show launched this past June as a weekly, then daily braodcast.
"Increased demands for Brazen Hussy Productions, my entertainment company, and desiring to spend more time with my children has required me to shift focus,” Charlotte told #Boom. “Sadly, it meant stepping away from “The Gayborhood” as a daily broadcast. I am so grateful to 1380 the X for giving us the opportunity to be the first daily LGBT prime time talk show on local commercial radio. Instead of letting the quality of our show suffer, co-hosts Jim Weckman, Ruby Doll, and I made the responsible decision to step away from a daily radio program.”
1380 extended the offer of a Saturday show, which will kick off on Dec. 13 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. following “The Gayborhood’s” final weekly broadcast this Friday.
Show Me Charlotte is the recipient of the 2014 Editor’s Choice for Best A.M. Talk Show Host in the Riverfront Times “Best Of” edition.
LGBT radio made its debut in St. Louis on KDHX 88.1 in June 1989 when “Coming Out of Hiding” hit airwaves and ran through December 1998. Subsequent LGBT radio shows including “Out & Open”, “Lavender Limelight” and “OUTspoken” also followed.
