ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - The St. Joseph City Council voted to pass a LGBTQ+ inclusive non-discrimination ordinance, late Monday, by a vote of 8-1.
The measure protects St. Joseph citizens from discrimination in employment and housing based on race, religion, ancestry, marital status, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity or membership of a uniformed service.
A dozen other cities in Missouri have LGBTQ+ inclusive non-discrimination policies.
Currently, there is no law in Missouri that protects LGBTQ+ people from discrimination in employment, housing and public accommodation.
