PROMO PAC, Missouri's statewide organization advocating for LGBTQ equality through the electoral process, has announced its endorsement of Kansas City Councilwoman Jolie Justus for Mayor of Kansas City.

PROMO PAC historically focuses on candidates for the state legislature and only weighs in on local races when a candidate meets their PAC requirements for making a compelling and strategic argument for the involvement of the LGBTQ community.

"Councilwoman Jolie Justus is that candidate to PROMO PAC," said the equality organization in a statement.  "LGBTQ representation matters. Even more so, it matters when we are represented by a leader like Councilwoman Jolie Justus."

According to PROMO , Justus has a long history working with and alongside their organization, especially when she was a Missouri State Senator. Justus played a significant role in 2013 when the Missouri Nondiscrimination Act (MONA) took its biggest step in Missouri history by passing out of the full Senate Chamber.

"Jolie's ability to build relationships with her colleagues from diverse backgrounds and her willingness to share her own experience as an openly LGBTQ Senator helped us to pass MONA out of the Senate with overwhelming bipartisan support," said PROMO PAC in the same statement.

"Councilwoman Jolie Justus shares PROMO's values of collaboration, authenticity, inclusion, and impact," PROMO PAC continued. "She is the candidate who will continue the momentum and progress in Kansas City for the entire city, including the LGBTQ community, ensuring Kansas City is a great place to live, work, and succeed."

Justus also enjoys the endorsements of Victory Fund and LPAC, among others. If elected she would be Kansas City's first openly LGBTQ mayor.
