ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Doorways announced this week that Gary M. Mudd, CPA will be the interfaith non-profit's new Chief Financial Officer (CFO). A highly skilled not-for-profit executive, Mudd will direct Doorways’ overall financial planning and reporting, accounting policies and practices, and information technology.

Mudd will participate in the formulation and implementation of the HIV/AIDS housing organization's strategic plan and revenue development. With 30 years of non-profit experience, Mudd is well positioned to make an immediate impact at Doorways.


Mudd is a certified public accountant with 10 years of public accounting experience, and has worked with numerous non-profit clients. As a Deloitte manager, he directed teams auditing leading St. Louis companies including Monsanto and Maritz, as well as numerous private independent schools. At Kerber, Eck & Braeckel, he conducted detailed examinations of ZMD Subdistricts’ financial and operating controls. In his 11 years at Whitfield School, he initially served as the business manager. Mudd then became the school’s development director and led a capital campaign that raised in excess of $18 million to complete the campus.


The St. Louis Business Journal recognized Mudd for his professional achievements in 2003 as a “40 under 40” recipient. His experience includes roles at RISE, the St. Louis community development intermediary, and as a key member of a special projects team that launched a new corporate brand for H&R Block.


Mudd graduated with honors from the University of Missouri - St. Louis with a Masters of Business Administration and holds a University of Missouri - Columbia Bachelor of Science - Accountancy. He currently serves as board treasurer for PROMO, Missouri's statewide LGBT advocacy organization, where he was instrumental in leading that organization’s merger with SAGE St. Louis in 2015.


Mudd previously served on the boards of St. Louis Effort for AIDS, Art St. Louis and Shaw Neighborhood Improvement Association, as well as advisory committees throughout the St. Louis metropolitan area.
