ST. LOUIS – The LGBT Center of St. Louis, today, officially welcomed activist and civic leader Randy L. Rafter, president of St. Louis Black Pride, as the non-profit’s newest board member.

Rafter joins the board of the LGBT Center of St. Louis as the organization seeks to support unity in the community. His knowledge and work in the community of St. Louis helps bridge gaps and open dialogue in a community of intersecting identities.

A born leader, Rafter is seeking to improve African American LGBT relations throughout the city as well as unite community leaders seeking similar ideals. Rafter has been Regional Chairman for the NAACP Youth & College Division, a national trainer for the Boys & Girls Club of America, and participation in the LGBT Leadership Round-Table. Randy currently sits as chair of St. Louis Black Pride. His commitments speak to his concern for all and dedication to civil liberties and equality.

“I am very excited and eager to get to work in building and establish a stronger, united and diverse community,” said Rafter. “As I offer my leadership I am excited about what the future offers the Center and ready to do the work in making the Center a beacon to the LGBTQIA community it serves.”

The LGBT Center of St. Louis is dedicated to providing resources and support to the LGBT community of The Gateway City and its surrounding areas through education, empowerment, outreach, and community building.
