ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Pride St. Louis, Inc., organizers of the city's annual PrideFest, announced today the first of several headlining acts for the 36th LGBTQIA pride celebration which returns to downtown the weekend of June 24.

PrideFest organizers are pleased to welcome pop-sensation and former American Idol winner, Jordin Sparks to the Bud Light Entertainment Stage on Saturday, June 25.

Sparks, best known for winning season 6 of American Idol is a singer-songwriter, Grammy Award nominee and the youngest winner of the world famous television show American Idol. Throughout her career, Sparks has sold over 1 million albums and more than 10 million singles in the United States alone, making her one of the most successful Idol contestants of all time.

“This ‘Top 40’ Grammy nominated recording artist brings her soulful sound and vitality to our stage," said Pride St. Louis Director of Entertainment, Marty Zuniga. "The LGBTQIA+ community looks forward to welcoming her to one of the Midwest’s largest pride festivals!”

Sparks was crowned the season 6 American Idol at the age of seventeen, and in the same year, released her first album, which went platinum and sold over two million copies. One of the tracks from her debut album, “No Air,” resulted in Sparks’ nomination for a Grammy Award. Throughout her career she has received many awards, including a People’s Choice Award, two Teen Choice Awards, an NAACP Image Award and a BET Award.

Sparks has also been a public supporter of the LGBTQIA+ community. In 2011 she collaborated with Whitney Houston on the song “Celebrate." When asked about its significance to the LGBTQIA+ community, Sparks said that it’s “about loving each other and celebrating each other” ( Other pride festivals around the country, such as Miami Beach, Seattle, Minneapolis and Central Alabama, have also welcomed Sparks this year.

“PrideFest is thrilled with the addition of Jordin Sparks to the headlining entertainment lineup," added Festival Director, Ethan Barnett. "She is on par with other notable performers who have graced the Bud Light Entertainment Stage in the past and she will put on an excellent show for attendees.”

Past years’ PrideFest performers have included LeAnn Rimes, DEV, Erasure’s Andy Bell, Deborah Cox, MKTO and Betty Who, among others. Organizers plan to unveil the full lineup of entertainers later this spring leading up to the summer festival, which takes place the weekend of June 24, 25 & 26 at Soldier's Memorial in downtown St. Louis.
