Pride St. Louis, Inc. was well represented at this year’s InterPride 2017 World Conference in Indianapolis, IN, October 4-7, 2017. The non-profit's delegation included Matt Harper, PrideSTL President, Dennis Gorg, Director of Compliance, Christa Lou Cunningham, Co-Director of Operations, and Leon A. Braxton, Jr., Director of Diversity and Inclusion.

This year’s conference included educational programming, workshops, and networking events – where over 400 local, national, and international InterPride members collaborated to show their support of the LGBTI global Pride Movement. It gave Pride organizers the opportunity to network, share ideas, discuss LGBTI+ issues and most importantly, provide support to one another in their shared work. Some of the educational workshops presented included Domestic Violence and the LGBTQ+ Community, Whose Pride Is It Anyway?, LGBTQ+ Older Adult Inclusion, Feminism and The Pride Movement, and Black Lives Matter and Pride Disruptions: Getting Away From Business as Usual. The conference also held Trans, Small Pride, and Women’s Caucuses.

PrideSTL’s Dennis Gorg presented the workshop Modern Security and Public Safety For Pride Festivals while Leon A. Braxton, Jr., presented Understanding Intersex 101.

Some additional highlights from the conference include:

● Matt Harper, elected as Region 4 Regional Co-Director
● Christa Lou Cunningham and Leon Braxton volunteering for the InterPride Human Rights Committee
● Gender Non-Binary Individuals can now serve as a Co-President
● There are 1,100 Pride Organizations globally
● Over 21 million people have taken part in our Global Pride Movement in 2017
● 2019 Conference and Annual General Meeting was awarded to Athens, Greece.
● World Pride 2021 was awarded to Copenhagen.
● PrideSTL's “Ask & Honor” pronoun campaign was introduced and used at interPride.
● The annual InterPride Gala and Dinner was a huge success.
● Luncheon with entertainment by Recording Artist CeCe Penniston

InterPride is an international organization representing and composed of producers of pride events for the LGBTI community that celebrate lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and Intersex (LGBTI) and/or other emerging sexual identities. Their shared vision is a world where there is full cultural, social and legal equality for all. InterPride’s mission is "empowering Pride organizations worldwide"

InterPride 2018 will be held in Saskatoon. Saskatchewan, Canada October 4-7.
