Celebrating its 16th anniversary, bidding for Vivent Health’s Art of PAWS auction began on Monday. Once again, the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has forced the event to be held virtually. The online auction is presented by Purina, a longtime supporter of people living with HIV. Purina and Vivent Health share the belief that people and pets are better together.
Every year local art store Artmart provides more than 60 of St. Louis’ best-known artists with a blank 30 x 30 canvas to create a unique work of art to be auctioned in support of Vivent Health’s Pets Are Wonderful Support (PAWS) Program.
This year’s collection features artwork ranging from some of the event’s most recognizable artists, like Charlie Houska & Jeff Kapfter, to community pieces like Theresa Hopkins’ “JJs Tattoo” that pays homage to the recently shuttered JJ’s Clubhouse, and April Morrison’s “Before the Parade Passes By” that captures St. Louis’ iconic Balloon Brigade marching in the Pride Parade.
While the community cannot come together in person this year, support is needed now more than ever. PAWS is a homegrown program that relies heavily on individual donations that ensure people living with HIV in St. Louis are not put in the difficult position of choosing between keeping their pet or effectively managing their healthcare.
The Vivent Health HIV Medical Home delivers the best health outcomes for patients and clients by providing comprehensive care. Community support is critical for Vivent Health to provide pet food and veterinary care assistance so people living with HIV can focus on having healthy immune systems and undetectable viral loads.
Bidding will remain open through Sunday, August 29th at https://e.givesmart.com/events/mad/. Be sure to bid today!
